a major award.

Some play sports for the experience. Others? The camaraderie. Most play to showcase their talent.
Why did my four year old play soccer?

For the trophy.

Soccer season ended in October, but their banquet was at the end of November (Go figure.) This is a lifetime to a four year old. Nevertheless, when her name was called, she was beaming with pride:

And here is where she announced to anyone listening: "I'M A STAR!!"

Now, let's go back to that trophy for a second. Notice anything funny?

No? Okay, how about now?

That's right. EDAN. Really? Like Sudan, the country? Maybe I just sounded so countrified every time she was out on the field that all anyone heard was "KICK THE BALL, EDAN!"

Don't worry. We'll get that fixed, EDEN.

Eden comes from a long line of trophy holders. Allow me to present a trophy from the archives:

That's right, folks. My trophy. For PERFECT ATTENDANCE. I rocked West LaFollette Elementary every single day of the 1991-1992 fourth grade school year, with the trophy to prove it. Guess we can't all be soccer stars!

So, now that the soccer cleats are stashed away for another season, we are trying our hand at something new tonight. Get your tutus ready and stay tuned...
