18 summers.

Today is August 1st. And I know that it is not an "official" end of summer or beginning of fall, but as we begin our homeschool year on Monday, this week is the last week of summer for us.

I have a dear friend that wrote a post a few weeks back (find her blog here!) about the fact that we only have eighteen summers with our kids. EIGHTEEN. That means, I only have thirteen left with Eden. My goal for this summer was to basically throw structured learning time out the window (minus Bible time) and just. have. FUN. We have been to the splash park more times than I can count. We have sipped on more half price slushies than should ever be allowed. We have enjoyed family movie nights, eating waaay too many hot dogs and bowls of ice cream.

My kids are getting to the ages where they will begin to remember things. I remember a LOT about being five. I remember a lot about being four, when my brother was born. I want our kids to remember loving life with mom and dad, and learning about God through splashing in water or hiking on a trail. He is there with us always, so we should incorporate Him into the joy and fun of everyday life!

I took these pics on the first day of summer this year. I remember being excited about three things that day:

1.) The new fixtures at the splash park
2.) 1/2 price drinks ALL DAY at Sonic, not just between 2pm-4pm.
3.) I had just received my new voter's registration card in the mail (I have been registered to vote since I was 18, but there's just something about that fresh, new card in the mail that instills a sense of pride. Ok, ignore me...)

Brandon and I have so, so many things we want to experience with the kids as this year is winding down. There are 18 summers, but also 18 fall, winter and spring seasons, too. May we make the MOST out of every season of life, even in the diaper changing season, the potty training season, and the defiant seasons. We have our children only for a short while, He has them forever. Enjoy your time!

I don't have kids, but this post filled me with so much joy. Your kids are so lucky to have two loving parents. Happy rest of the summer! xoxo

Love the pics! I'm the same way - knowing how little time we have with our kids at home is making me savor every moment...even the times that drive me insane :)
