mama moments: P is for Pads and Other Tales.

Yesterday was this ridiculously funny day in a thousand ways. I decided to make a conglomerate of all the "kid quotes" from yesterday for today's mama moment---you just can't make this stuff up.

It all started the night before--Wednesday night (I mentioned this on {facebook} yesterday), when Eden handed me a copy of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, leaned in and whispered, ""You have GOT to read this book. It will TOTALLY change your life"...

I mean, three wild animals living in a beautiful cottage, finding a young girl alone in their twin bed in the forest? It is a tad life changing, and is a great reminder to never enter the woods alone.

Then yesterday, we are eating lunch and August asks to go to the restroom. While he is sitting there, he smiles and says under his breath, "His hair was the secret of his great strength.."
"Who's hair was the secret of his great strength?" I asked, quizzing him.
"Jesus", he smiled.
"No, Samson, remember?"
"Yes, Samson!" he says.
"What is the secret of YOUR great strength?" I ask, jokingly.
He smiles and says, "GOD".

On the way home from the store yesterday evening, August glances out the window of the van, sighs, and asks, "Is Daddy home?"
"No, sweetie, he is still working".
"Oh. Okay...Hey wait a minute--does that mean we can get a pizza for supper??"

Oh, August. Always trying to find the positive in an otherwise gloomy situation...

Then, at supper (no, we did not get the pizza), Eden asks the following:
"How does God make people?"
"Well", I replied, "the Bible tells us that God makes people in the image and likeness of Him".
"OOOH! Does that mean God has curly blonde hair and giant hairbows just like me?!"

***
Eden has this notebook we began back in the summer, where she would cut out pictures from circulars/magazines and paste them under the correct letter (example: S for shampoo, etc). She had some old coupons she was using to cut and paste yesterday, when she holds up a picture of a pack of pads.

"Mommy? What are these?"

I froze. What do I say?

"Well, they are pads, sweetie".

"Pads. Hmmm..What letter do 'pads' start with?"

"Sound it out. Pa-pa paaads" (Yes, I sounded out PADS. I was embarrassed in my own living room..)

"Pa-pa pads..P! They begin with P!"

"Yes, now glue the picture under the letter P in your notebook".

"Got it. Now, what are pads, Mommy?"

Hope your weekend is full of love and laughter with your little ones!

Deanna: haha! You are most welcome for the laughs ;) My kids crack me up on a daily basis, I think they must get their good humor from their father!
