31 Days of a Small Town Gal (Day 10): Stop, Drop, and Roll.

{Welcome to our October series, "31 Days of a Small Town Gal". You are on Day 10. Missed any previous posts? Click {here} to catch up!}

One of my favorite places to take the children with our mommy/child group, Chi Rho Kids, is the Jacksboro Fire Hall. We have taken many fire hall tours there over the years, and the firefighters are sincerely excited to share the fire hall, fire trucks, and a rainy afternoon with the children and educate them about fire safety:

The kids loved listening to Captain Madison talk about what to do in the event of a house fire, what to expect when the firemen come into your home in an emergency, and the "stop, drop (cover your face, annnd) roll" rule. When Captain Madison explained that we are to trust firefighters and police officers, Eden piped up and said, "My daddy is a police officer!" Captain Madison smiled and said, "I know your daddy! I bet he wasn't too happy when we called him out the other night!!" I love how servicemen back each other up here in our town. It is just an unspoken code. They work alongside each other to keep our community safe.

 Most everyone loved the trucks and fire equipment. Then some kept their fingers in their ears and continued asking for gum:

 Each of the children even had the chance to sit in the fire truck and pretend to drive:

If you live in our area and want to take your child to visit the fire hall and see the fire trucks, the Jacksboro Fire Hall is always a great place to visit!

I also wanted to note that ALL of the photos taken in this post are by fellow "small town gal" Heather Sexton of Heather Sexton Photography.  She took our family photos last November (click the tab "the family" at the top of the blog to see her photos of us!) and she is a fantastic family photographer.

Special thanks to Jacksboro Fire Hall, Heather Sexton, and the Chi Rho Kids moms and dads for making this outing a success!

Great post! I also loved the pics. My boys and my girlfriend's daughters really enjoyed when we went to a spaghetti dinner at our local fire hall. It's fun and educational for everyone!

What a great idea! Our fire hall is literally behind us, so the girls know that when the siren goes off {and it's SO loud!!} that the firemen are off to help people. I need to see if we can visit them!
