{Welcome to our October series, "31 Days of a Small Town Gal". You are on Day 12. Missed any previous posts? Click {here} to catch up!}
Yesterday we went to visit the local corn maze and pumpkin patch "up the valley". (For those out of town folk reading this post, "up the valley" essentially means you hit the four lane and drive until you only see fields, cows, and the occasional house). And once you pass Lee's Food Market (formerly Frontier Market) you will see the Country Harvest Corn Maze and Hillbilly Fun Pumpkin Patch:
When you visit, you have the option of doing one of two corn mazes (and in previous years they had questions about Tennessee history to help guide you through!), a hayride, a "cow train", and a "hillbilly fun" play area that includes a giant hillbilly slide, a wooden merry go round, a "feed box" (as opposed to a sand box) a "hay climb" and a small haly bale maze for kids in the shape of a giant spider:
After we let the kids burn some energy in the hillbilly play area, we boarded the cow train:
Confession: the cow train is my favorite. I just think it is so inventive, and the kids just love it. After we exited the cow train, we gathered together on the hay ride:
I know many people from our town head to Knoxville for corn maze and pumpkin patch fun. We went to one of the more popular ones in Knoxville several years ago (Brandon won tickets from a radio station!) and while it truly was fun, admission was higher, parking was a nightmare, lines were long, and with all of those elements combined, we missed out on a lot that that particular corn maze/pumpkin patch has to offer.
Country Harvest is one I look forward to every fall. It is 15 minutes from our house, no lines, and I am sold on the adorable cow train and play area. The admission is less expensive, the owners truly enjoy their guests, and each child receives a free pumpkin! It is one of my small town fall faves.
Happy Friday! Check back this weekend for more in our "31 Days" series!

I love the cow train too!!
Christy: So glad you guys were able to come! Fun times!
Amie: Isn't it adorable? I had a really hard time "exiting" the train though...the farmer driving it had to hold Titus so I could climb out, haha!
