{Welcome to our October series, "31 Days of a Small Town Gal". You are on Day 15. Missed any previous posts? Click {here} to catch up!}
Okay, so I think it pretty much goes without saying that I would include Charley's Pizza in our "31 Days" series at some point. If you live here, you eat there. End of story.
My favorite memories of Charley's Pizza are from when we were kids. Friday nights almost ALWAYS included a trip there, to grab a pizza and a giant pitcher of Coke for me, my brother and my parents. Oh, and to get a salad piled high with bleu cheese dressing. My father and I are bleu cheese connoisseurs, and trust me, Charley's has the best. Period.
After devouring pizza and making a trip to Wal Mart, basically the only store in our town at that time, (Wait--it pretty much still is, right?) I would look at the slap bracelets, and then we would head home just in time to watch TGIF. That's right. Raise your hand if you remember Boy Meets World? Step by Step? Family Matters? Full House?? Sigh. TV died the day TGIF was no more. And that was a typical Friday night in my childhood. And I loved it!
We are now making new "Charley's memories". I still meet my parents down there from time to time with the kids, the pizza is still just as amazing, and my dad brings a handful of change that he calls "Papa Quarters" so the kids can get junk out of the quarter machines and litter my van with it. We aren't soda drinkers anymore, so typically water with lemon will do. And you NEVER leave without getting a to go box for your leftovers. I'm pretty sure it's illegal. Somehow. Because Charley's Pizza is even better the next day. It is just that good.
So, while TGIF and slap bracelets are a thing of the past, Charley's Pizza is here to stay in our small town!
