{Welcome to our October series, "31 Days of a Small Town Gal". You are on Day 20. Missed any previous posts? Click {here} to catch up!}
As I mentioned in my {thrift store steals post}, one of my favorite places to visit for unique clothing finds in our small town is the Shepherd's Home Thrift Store. I love to go there! It is probably one of the cleanest and most organized thrift stores I have ever encountered (remember, this is where I found my Kate Spade bag. Yup.). Not to mention that we have some amazing friends that work there, so when I go, I basically get to shop and hang out with fun people for an hour that help me find cute clothes in my size. Brandon and I went to the Lincoln-Reagan Dinner at the Stables back in the summer, to listen to Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam speak, and the dress I bought for the event I found at the Shepherd's Home. And at least one person told me I was hot.
That same person watched me floss my teeth and put in my retainers before bed that night. Anyways...
The greatest part about the Shepherd's Home Thrift Store is not the clothing (although awesome, trust me). The thrift store exists to promote the Shepherd's Home in Jacksboro, which is a transition home for women struggling with drug addiction. The thrift store helps support this ministry, as well as give residents an employment opportunity. The thrift store celebrated its first year anniversary this month!
The Shepherd's Home is partnered with another amazing program in our town called Celebrate Recovery, which meets to support and uplift through Christ those dealing with addiction--not just drug addiction, but any sin issue one is facing and needs accountability. We have seen firsthand the powerful effects of both of these ministries in our small town. Lives are being changed!!
Please remember both of these ministries in prayer, and visit and support the thrift store!!
