homemade tile coasters.

I decided to make my best friend some homemade coasters for her coffee table to go along with her Christmas gift this year. My friend Aubrey over at {thebarelafamily.com} gave me the idea after she made some for her son's teacher. (She's super encouraging and crafty, by the way. Check out her blog!)

While I totally could have went with a Christmas theme, I decided to make them bright and happy, something she can use year-round.

Plus, they remind me of summer. Which, who doesn't pine for warmer weather right now?

Here we go:

Step 1: Get four replacement tiles from your basement from Lowe's or another hardware store that are 4x4 in size. These are about $.35 each. Oh yeah..

Step 2: Cut your scrapbook paper in 4x4 sized squares. You could use scrapbook paper, old postcards or greeting cards, get fancy!

Step 3: Brush Mod Podge on the back of your paper square and press it firmly on the tile. Next (pic not included) take them outside and spray the tops with an acrylic spray to set them and give them a shiny appearance.

Step 4: Place little felt circles on the corners of the tile, or a felt square on the back. This will keep your best friend's coffee table from getting scratched, and she will love you all the more.

Step 5: Find some pretty ribbon around the house, tie 'em up, and there you go! Tile coasters made with love...

Have fun!
