My name is Christie Elkins, and I am a stay at home mother to three little ones, Eden, August, and newest addition, Titus. I love being a mother, and God has molded and changed my heart and passions to focus intently on home and family. I seem to get myself into funny situations on a daily basis, and use those moments to glean God's wisdom in each happening. This is the basis of my musings in motherhood.
About Me:
* I am a passionate believer in Christ, yet a hypocrite and bring shame to His name daily. If this offends you in any way, I offer no apologies.
* I was a DCS foster care case worker before I left the career path and began my walk as a mother in 2007.
* My husband is a hot, Godly man and my kids are gorgeous and brilliant. And then there is me.
* I have been blessed with the most amazing friends ever. Find another girl with better friends. Go ahead. I dare you.
* I love to drive. I also love to speed. I also love to talk my way out of tickets. It works, most of the time. Maybe I should just slow down...
* I am an extremely awkward person on the phone. I think I just express myself better through the written word than the spoken one. Thank goodness for the invention of text messaging.
* I could live off of chocolate and coffee. Decaf, or my heart would explode.
* I am a ham radio operator. It is something I promised my father in law I would do before he became my father in law. Now we can talk via radio :)
* I am a bonded deputy, which means I have the right and privilege to carry a firearm in my knock-off Prada handbag.
* I trim my bangs with the same pair of scissors I use to open luncheon meats.
My husband of seven years, Brandon. We met the first day of high school. He had shaggy blonde hair and baggy jeans with a chain wallet. He was also known to dye his hair shades of green, red, purple, and orange. A man after my own heart. Brandon is one of those people who can do anything and excel at it. I utterly despise him for this. He is currently Captain of the Campbell County Sheriff's Office, the founder and pastor of Paradigm Church, second degree black belt, Eagle scout, on the Weed and Seed board, fellow Cumberland graduate, and resident hottie. Sorry, ladies. He's taken.
This is our firstborn, Miss Eden Lanier, the muse behind My Walk with Eden. Eden is a silly, sweet, super smart girlie who loves stuffed animals, chewing gum, and making people smile. The best thing about being four? Playing soccer. Eden keeps us in stitches by posing hilarious questions and statements. She is not ashamed of the Gospel and is bold in telling others about Christ. She has inherited her mother's innate ability to remember song lyrics after only hearing them one time. She also inherited my giant head.
Here's our son, Mr. Steven Augustine Elkins (August). He was born a month early on St. Patrick's Day 2010. August is always smiling, and appreciates the value of technology in a rural Appalachian town. August spends his days sticking his head in the fridge, playing with his farm set, and hiding my hairbrush. August absolutely loves the outdoors, so hiking and visits to the park are a must for him. He has an infinite love for dogs, bananas, and playing "drums".
Our newest addition is James Titus, but you can call him Titus. Living up to his name, he is the largest Elkins baby thus far, weighing in at 7lbs. Titus loves to hear his brother and sister playing and laughing, snuggling and cooing, and a good nap. Here's hoping he keeps his brown locks!
